How it works

Your reflective learning plan, built as you go

CPDTracks is an online CPD tracker for South African accountants. It follows SAICA's output based policy step by step, so the record SAICA asks for is ready whenever you need it.

01

Plan your year

Choose your designation and career path, then pick development areas from SAICA's competency framework and note what prompted each one.In the app: plan your route

02

Log activities

Record courses, reading, webinars and on the job learning as they happen, with hours, providers, outcomes and links to your evidence. In the app: log activities

03

Reflect, including ethics

Write reflections through the year and at year end. The annual ethics reflection SAICA made compulsory in 2021 is prompted, not left to memory. In the app: campfire reflections

04

Export your declaration

Finish the year with a clean PDF: a SAICA ready reflection plan.In the app: reflect, then export

Everything the policy asks for, in one place

Built around SAICA's CPD policy rather than a generic hours counter, with the extra checks that apply if you are registered with SARS or IRBA.

The SAICA competency framework, built in

Plan against the framework for your career path and stage instead of copying competency codes out of a PDF. Every activity you log links back to the development area it addresses, which is exactly how the reflective plan is structured.

Ethics reflection, prompted

SAICA Circular 02/2021 made an annual ethics reflection compulsory for every member. CPDTracks prompts it and records it on your plan.

SARS and IRBA hour checks

Registered tax practitioners see progress against 18 hours, split 10 tax technical, 2 ethics and 6 service related. Registered auditors see the 3 hour ethics minimum. Members and Associates following SAICA's ordinary output-based policy are never given an invented hour target.

Evidence where you need it, for monitoring

Link evidence held in your own cloud storage, or upload certificates, images and PDFs straight onto an activity. When SAICA selects you for monitoring, the plan, the activities, the reflections and the evidence are already together.

Career breaks

Record a break with its dates, type and reason, attach supporting documents such as a medical certificate, and carry it into your year end report.

Records kept properly

Automatic clean up of old years is optional, and the retention period can never drop below three years, or five if you are a tax practitioner.

Backups you can read

Download a complete archive of readable files and hosted evidence at any time, and restore it into CPDTracks.

Plan at your desk, log on your phone

CPDTracks runs in any modern browser. There is nothing to install and nothing to sync.

  • Full desktop layout for planning and year end reflection
  • Compact layout for logging a webinar the moment it ends

A spreadsheet is compliant. It is just more work.

Questions members ask before signing up

What is CPDTracks?

CPDTracks is a web app for planning, logging and reflecting on continuing professional development. It is built around SAICA's output based CPD policy for CA(SA), AGA(SA) and AT(SA) members, and has a General CPD mode for professionals with other requirements.

What does CPDTracks cost?

One membership covers every feature: $14.99 a year, charged in your own local currency, with VAT or sales tax included where your country requires it. There is no free tier and no trial. Payments are handled by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record.

Is CPDTracks an iPhone app?

No. CPDTracks is a web app that runs in any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to install. An earlier iPhone app is no longer maintained.

Does SAICA require a set number of CPD hours?

Not for its designations. SAICA's guidance states there is no requirement to achieve a certain number of hours or points for CA(SA), AGA(SA) or AT(SA). Fixed hours apply only through other registrations, such as SARS tax practitioners.

Does CPDTracks help tax practitioners and registered auditors?

Yes. Tell CPDTracks you are a SARS registered tax practitioner or an IRBA registered auditor and it tracks those fixed minimums as you log activities, showing how many hours are still outstanding in each category.

Is CPDTracks endorsed by SAICA?

No. CPDTracks is an independent product of DAD The Accountant and is not affiliated with or endorsed by SAICA, SARS or IRBA. It follows SAICA's published CPD policy, and your compliance remains your own responsibility.

Is my data secure?

Your account and CPD records are stored using Supabase and served through Cloudflare. Connections use HTTPS, access is controlled by your account, and each user's records are isolated. Use a unique password and never share your sign in details.

Can I export my CPD record?

Yes. Save the completed reflection PDF for any year you have recorded, and download a complete readable archive, including hosted evidence, that restores back into CPDTracks.
